3 Ways To Save More Money

These ways to save more money in your day to day life are essential if you are looking to tighten the purse strings. Lots of people wish they could spend less on essential living but are still paying more than they need to in everyday life.

Saving is usually along the lines of, save more, send less. New year is a good time to set new savings goals so we are going to take a look at this now.

If you could spend less on the everyday essentials you would probably end up saving far more than you could imagine. I have a few ideas which I think will also help others with saving more and spending less as we go forward with the year.

Ways To Save More Money

Save Money on Home Expenses

The biggest out going for most people is for accommodation.

Now whether you are renting or you are a homeowner, it is often good to evaluate how much you are paying.

Being a homeowner, I have a mortgage and this is my biggest outgoing each month.

This is something which I reassess every 2 years, as I sign into 2 year fixed term agreements.

I like the security of knowing exactly how much my repayments are each month.

Take a look at my post about using a Mortgage Broker.  If you are not in a fixed-term mortgage you could be paying more for your home if the interest rate is higher.

Save Money on Energy Suppliers

There are ways to save money on your energy bills and things we can cut back on. But we all need electricity in our homes and most homes also have a gas central heating too.

Did you know you have the right to switch your supplier even in rented properties?

This is like any other contract, once you are outside your agreed term chances are you are paying more than you should be. To make your electricity bill cheaper, you will want to reduce, if possible, the price you pay per kilowatt of electricity you use. Similarly, to reduce the cost of your heating you will want to, if you use heating oil, for example, make sure that you can find a supplier that offers you the best price. Services such as Bucks County Fuel do not have credit card or delivery fees which can make it a lot easier on people’s wallets when it comes time to replenish their supply.

There are essential household bills that we can’t avoid or reduce such as council tax but these are fixed monthly.

Mobile phone contracts, home phones, TV and broadband are all for fixed terms and once that term is up you can negotiate new deals.

Take a look at my post about switching energy suppliers.

Save Money On Food

I shop in Aldi and have done since I was first introduced to it by a friend.

I was a little unsure before I had ever been there and had pre-conceptions, but it’s been about 3 years and I am so thankful I was introduced to them.

My weekly shop is pretty much half what it costs in any of the other major 3 supermarkets.

Granted I now rarely buy branded food, but the food I do buy tastes just as good as the branded ones.

There are only a few things I buy specifically branded.

I know not everyone can shop at Aldi or Lidl as they are not in all towns. But if you make meal plans this will help you save money as you will reduce your food waste.

If you are finding yourself stressed about money regularly try making one of these changes. Even just implementing one of these ideas can help you save more money.
