Lucy’s law is something I am a strong supporter of

If you follow me on any of my social media accounts Facebook /Twitter / Instagram  you will notice I often upload pictures and talk about my cats and my dogs

I currently have seven cats and two dogs, all of which have come through rescue centres

My cats vary in age from about 2 years old, to about 13 years old

My dogs were born in October 2015 approximately

They are now called Lulu and Bonny. (We originally called them Tallulah and Penelope, but the names were too much of a mouth full for training the duo)

This picture is from when they were about 12 weeks old

Finally strong enough to come to live with me, after being in the vets for weeks

They were abandoned at a local vets, dumped on the counter in a pet carrier and the owner never return

Covered in fleas and riddled with worms, hugely dehydrated and malnourished. Obviously there was no micro-chip either which is now compulsory for any dog over 8 weeks old

Growing up my parents always had at least two pet dogs in the family home at any time

In my young teenage years I went on to be an obedience and agility handler for our family dogs

This lead me to winning awards and rosettes for my ability to lead and display my dog at shows

Ever since I moved in to my own home, I took an interest in charity work and volunteered for Cats Protection

a group of 4 cute kittens ranging in white and ginger colourings

This a litter of kittens I fostered recently.

Their pregnant mother was taped up inside a box and dumped on the doorstep of a local pet shop.

All kittens went on to find new homes through the rescue and the mum now called Ruby has her forever home with me.

As an animal lover, one thing that has never sat comfortably with me is people who breed and sell their pet’s offspring to make money.

What Is Lucy’s Law

Shaking up parliament recently with its flood of support from celebrities and high profile people is what is known as Lucy’s Law

Lucy’s law is to ban the sale of puppies by pet shops and all commercial third party dealers, this extends to puppy farms and people breeding their pets

With the aim of easing the extreme levels of unwanted and abandoned pets.

Support & Sign

There is currently a petition in circulation which you can sign here

As a nation of animal lovers, why are we still paying hundreds to thousands of pounds for puppies which have been breed and sold by puppy farmers or unregistered breeders with out licences or Kennel Club recognition?

Puppies sold in these conditions are often sick, traumatised and dysfunctional which leads to huge vets bills and even health problems in later life.

Rescues are overflowing with unwanted dogs and puppies, as well as cats and kittens.

All of which have already been fully health checked, microchipped, vaccinated and often come with insurance.

Man best friend needs to be heard, Let’s help get this movement passed in parliament and sign the petition.

*Update this motion was passed!!!!!
