Go Ape Adventure Tilgate Park Crawley was such a great experience
Living so close to Tilgate, I often make the most of the beautiful park and facilities. Whether it is walking the dogs, taking part in the Saturday morning park run event or dinning out in Smith & Western. It really is a lovely place to go
This Summer holiday we tried the Go Ape Treetop Adventure. This is primarily for children as long as they are over the height of 1 metre. But adults are also allowed to go on this one, as well as the Treetop Challenge in Tilgate park
Go Ape Adventure Tilgate
Booking is simple you either pay at the desk on site or book online. If you book online you currently get a 20% discount off the standard £18 per ticket price
Go Ape is a chain of experiences spread across the country, Tilgate just happens to be local to me
How the adventure works
Your experience lasts for an hour and time slots are booked at half hour intervals. When you book your ticket you will state which time slot you require
When you are ready to go, you sign the safety disclaimer. If you are under 18 a guardian needs to complete this on your behalf. This is also when you get your wrist band which your start time is written on
You are then shown where to get your harness from and helped into your harness. This is 2 leg loops and a waist belt which holds you on to the steel cable course. Juniors depends on size, will wear a slightly different harness which comes up over their shoulders as well for extra comfort
A brief safety and how to use the course and harness lesson from one of the staff is the next thing we did. Your harness has a zip clip, this holds you on to the steel cable which goes the full length of the course
The Route
You have to follow the cable round the course in a specific direction and route. Once you are on, that is it, you can not get off mid-course. So will need to ensure you are able bodied enough to finish your adventure
There are 2 zip wires which are the end of the cables. This is the only point you are able to detach yourself from the course
For me this was a great experience and I would recommend it
The course did get a bit congested at intervals, especially at the zip wire. Also, you might find yourself behind someone who is travelling at a slower pace than you would like to be going at, but you can not move round them.
I wasn’t particularly tired at the end of the hour, you have plenty of moments where you are standing around. If you are not good with heights then this would be frightful for you to do. I believe you are 50 foot up in the air on this course
Charlie wore his action camera around the course for some of the way
Let me know in the comments if you have previously visited Go Ape Adventure Tilgate or any of the other Go Ape parks?
Pin this for later
