Having silky smooth skin this Summer is something I wish I had permanently, all year round. I have had sessions of laser hair removal on my legs to try and stop the hair growth. It is quite an expensive treatment and not something which you only do once, there is upkeep involved. I absolutely love the summer months and being able to wear skirts and dresses without the stress of shaving is a must for me.
For me personally, I am just not a fan of body hair, especially on my legs. Shaving my legs every day, ok well not every day especially in those winter months, really does feel like a chore. In the summer when I like to have my legs on display I would prefer them to be smooth and not stubbly or have a shaving rash.
I find it helps with my body confidence when I am hair free. As I embark on my summer glow up maintaining a hair-free body is essential for giving me body confidence.
Silky Smooth Skin In The Summer
Laser Hair Removal
The cost of laser hair removal can be expensive.
It is also something you need to have a number of times before you get the ‘permanent’ results you want. It also isn’t permanent as such, as there is no guarantee your hair follicles won’t ever start growing again. But this is the only treatment I have found which gives longer-lasting results.
I bought myself an IPL device to use in the comfort of my own home. The idea was to try and save some money long-term as the cost of treatments can add up to a pretty hefty price tag.
There are often deals on Groupon which I highly recommend buying if you are interested in getting treatments in a salon.
IPL stands for intense pulsed light. This is the same hair removal technology I had used on me in a salon.
The cost of the device was the same as just 1 session so I thought it was worth a try and see. Plus this way I get to use it on those more intimate areas as well rather than just my legs.
My At-Home IPL Results
I have been using it every other week for about 2 months so far and have got fantastic results
I am naturally dark-haired and light-skinned. This is apparently the most responsive type of body hair for this treatment. Most skin types are suitable for IPL treatments too.
In between each use, you can not wax, only shave. This is because you are un-doing all the treatment by ripping the treated follicle out if you wax. The laser gradually damages the follicle so much it stops working and the hair never grows back through
My biggest issue with treating myself at home is I find it time consuming. Dedicating time to using your IPL can be a bit tedious, but from the results so far it really is worth it. Now I have my own IPL device I will continue to do the treatments myself. I have also started using it on my bikini line area which I wasn’t as keen on getting done in the salon
The home removal devices aren’t as strong as the professional ones either. So your results could take longer doing it yourself but it costs a lot less in the long run and you are in the comfort of your own home
If you are someone who schedules in their self-care routine, adding this in could be a worthwhile treatment if you long for silky smooth skin
I am looking forward to seeing even longer lasting results over time with my at home device

Body hair can be a useful protection but can be a breeding ground for germs.
I don’t mind body hair it’s easy to remove I know it comes back quickly but it’s very expensive to remove hair permanently
ITS FANTASTIC
I hate shaving so this would be amazing!
Body hair is just annoying. I suffer from polycystic ovaries and it’s just a nightmare. Would love one of these!
It’s fine in the winter months but come summer, it has to go.
I would love to have one of these macjines to do IPL at home. I hate shaving and the problem with waxing is you have to let the hair grow back enough for the wax to work.
I look like a bear! I hate it. It’s dark and obvious. I’d love to be smooth and hair free.
I try to keep on top of it. In the winter I must admit I neglect my legs a bit. I’m embarrassed by the dark hairs on my chin and over my lips.
I always carry a tweezer in my handbag for touch ups on the go.
Thankkfully it is not so much of a problem for me.
i dont mind it on men but not on women
I do not worry too much about body hair, as I’ve got older it is less of a problem, except in one intimate area and the few odd ones on my face.
I hate it as mine’s quite dark, would love to be able to banish away the hairs!
I hate it! I have PCOS and dark hair so it’s an ongoing, daily battle. I go for a wax every 6 weeks and get rid of my facial hair every day using tweezers, a shaver and a no7 mirror lol. Such a pain!
It’s a never-ending struggle – I also have polycystic ovary syndrome so get extra body & facial hair…aren’t I lucky!?
I used to work with a girl that said she didn’t shave her legs in the winter as she needed to keep as warm as possible. As someone who could have been her mother due to my age , she taught me this great tip and yes you do keep warmer. However the other day my husband commented that I have hairyer legs than him!
I hate body hair and would love to win this.
I don’t mind it in the winter as I wear jeans all the time, but have to get rid of it in the summer.
I like to get rid of it so would love to win this!
I am so ready to throw away my razors.
No more waxing would be perfect.
Body hair is so annoying but its also such a chore to keep on top of it. This would be fantastic!
Hate mine, have recently had dermaplaning done and wow what a difference. Peach fuzz has gone (temporarily)
With my busy lifestyle its difficult to keep it at bay. This would be a fab help!
This looks fantastic. I usually just shave but totally fed up with having to do it
I find it’s such a hassle now I have a child so I’d love something to make it that bit easier
I have light skin and dark hair so this would be perfect for me
The bane of my life! Always hated it and tried many home and salon products. This would be very welcome.
Due to a long spell of steroid medication, I have a major problem with facial hair on my neck and chin. I hate it and have problems removing it every week.
In my view, we have body hair to prevent bacteria getting through into our systems, so we shouldn’t get rid of it all, we need some to protect us xx
I think the removal is a chore we all hate.
I don’t like it but think it is such a faff to get rid of it
I’d love this to make hair removal easier. I used to rely on razors and recently moved to an electric one to try to avoid ingrown hairs etc. This would be so much better.
I don’t like body hair especially the bristly stuff
I don’t like mine as it’s so dark and noticeable.
Body hair on men – pretty nice if in moderation. On me, I really hate armpit hair and leg hair and face fluff, so IPL would be fab for me.
This would ve great to win
TOTALLY bliss will be invaluable
I really don’t like body hair on myself as I have dark hair so you can really see the hair on my arms.
Hair removal never seems to last that long for me and I tend to have quite dark hair. I would love to give this a go to see what kind of results I get.
I don’t like body hair and have to remove it.
Removal cream never seems to last very long for me
I hate body hair, i use razors for body and threading for face. I have allergic reactions to waxing. id love to try an alternative
I hate having to shave and equally dislike having hairy legs etc so this would be fantastic
I hate body hair, and im really concious of it
It really annoys me!
I have been looking at these. What a fabulous prize.
Its just a nuisance in the summer months especially, when you have to keep shaving!
I hate it, it’s a never ending battle. I’m also getting paranoid about facial hair now as everyone seems to be getting that removed too.
I wish I didn’t have to think about body hair – it makes me self conscious!
I hate removing hair and honestly only do it in the summer.
I’m not a fan! I get rid of it as often as possible!
I hate it. It’s a real chore to keep my legs hair free.
would be amazing to try this
Like most women, I hate body hair. These devices sound incredible. I don’t mind that it’s time consuming because all forms of removing body hair are anyway. I think it would definitely be worth it to get the long lasting results.
Would love to try something like this.
I’ve always wanted to try one of these – it would save me so much time and energy in the long run.
I don’t like hair on legs or armpits.
Body hair is fine on the Head, but no where else.
can take it or leave it
It’s body hair, there are no rules so, do as you please
I’ve always been lucky as have very fine body hair but feel sorry for the people who have dark thick body hair
I prefer to get rid of my body hair but it takes time and needs repeating so often!
This seems a really clever device. It’s good to hear from someone who’s actually used it.
I have have problems for years with dark hair growth but the devices I’ve bought never lived up to the manufacturer’s claims.
I prefer smooth skin but it’s such a boring chore to keep defuzzing!
Annoying!!! Especially when I shave in the morning and it feels like it has grown back by the evening!!!
I like to use removal creams instead of shaving . waxing.
I prefer ladies to be natural
Hate shaving / waxing as they both bring me out in rashes. However, having dark hair I get really hairy armpits and legs so have to keep the regime up! The IPL device sounds like the perfect solution for me and I’d love to try it!
Fab prize. Smooth skin would be great. Good luck all x
Hate hairy legs but I’m forever cutting mine when I shave so this, would help
its annoying – i’m just helping my tweenager to deal with the first signs of it and i feel for her – she shouldn’t have to bother but people can be cruel.
I really hate my body hair, in the summer I shave practically everyday as I can’t stand even a millimetre of hair, I’ve even been known to pluck my armpits hairs so you can’t see those dark follicles under the skin after shaving.
I can’t stand it, I feel so much more feminine and alot happier when I have just waxed or shaved x
I don’t mind body hair. but do shave some areas.
This sounds really useful. Great to have a means of hair removal at home.
I absolutely hate shaving so this would be a godsend.
Doesn’t bother me too much apart from the fact it suddenly appears overnight
I hate body hair and shave armpits and legs most days, this device looks brilliant
I’m lucky that only the lower half of my legs has ever needed hair removal but this would be wonderful to use at home
I don’t mind it but I know my partner would love me to win this fir her as she likes to get her legs nice and smooth.
I’m not a fan of body hair. I feel neater and cleaner after I’ve gotten rid of mine.
I have no opinion either way on other people’s, and I don’t mind mine, I just really like the feeling of my skin being smooth. I enjoy the absence of it on myself more than I dislike the presence, if that makes sense!
Anything to help me save precious time. As you cant get that back!
Useful. Convenient to have hair removal when & where you want.
wow could do ith this would love it
I have tried most methods of removal but not this , would be great for the summer removal.
I don’t like body hair think it’s unhygienic but shaving and waxing really irritates my skin so an IPL sounds like an ideal solution
I have dark body hair (and eyebrows) but blonde hair. I find it so frustrating as it’s so noticeable – if you miss a bit when shaving or a few eyebrow hairs grow out of place.
It’s annoying, obviously there for a reason but still annoying! Would love this, it would be a great help, thank you.
I don’t like it, prefer to have smooth skin and this looks fab for long term results
Body hair is generally a nuisance , but it does serve a purpose in some areas keeping us cool
Hair is fine – in the right places…
Hi, I read your blog, it’s nice! My girlfriend is also looking for a laser treatment, but she afraid of the reaction because her skin is too sensitive. Your blog is good and informative. Thanks for sharing!
You should take a shower and exfoliate your skin before the process of hair removal. It removes the dead skin cells from your skin and frees you from any ingrown hairs. Whereas, a hot water shower will help you in opening up your skin pores, which makes the epilation really easy and smooth by making it less painful.
