Silky Smooth Skin This Summer

Having silky smooth skin this Summer is something I wish I had permanently, all year round. I have had sessions of laser hair removal on my legs to try and stop the hair growth. It is quite an expensive treatment and not something which you only do once, there is upkeep involved. I absolutely love the summer months and being able to wear skirts and dresses without the stress of shaving is a must for me.

For me personally, I am just not a fan of body hair, especially on my legs. Shaving my legs every day, ok well not every day especially in those winter months, really does feel like a chore. In the summer when I like to have my legs on display I would prefer them to be smooth and not stubbly or have a shaving rash.

I find it helps with my body confidence when I am hair free. As I embark on my summer glow up maintaining a hair-free body is essential for giving me body confidence.

Silky Smooth Skin In The Summer

Laser Hair Removal

The cost of laser hair removal can be expensive.

It is also something you need to have a number of times before you get the ‘permanent’ results you want. It also isn’t permanent as such, as there is no guarantee your hair follicles won’t ever start growing again. But this is the only treatment I have found which gives longer-lasting results.

I bought myself an IPL device to use in the comfort of my own home. The idea was to try and save some money long-term as the cost of treatments can add up to a pretty hefty price tag.

There are often deals on Groupon which I highly recommend buying if you are interested in getting treatments in a salon.

IPL stands for intense pulsed light. This is the same hair removal technology I had used on me in a salon.

The cost of the device was the same as just 1 session so I thought it was worth a try and see. Plus this way I get to use it on those more intimate areas as well rather than just my legs.

My At-Home IPL Results

I have been using it every other week for about 2 months so far and have got fantastic results

I am naturally dark-haired and light-skinned. This is apparently the most responsive type of body hair for this treatment. Most skin types are suitable for IPL treatments too.

In between each use, you can not wax, only shave. This is because you are un-doing all the treatment by ripping the treated follicle out if you wax. The laser gradually damages the follicle so much it stops working and the hair never grows back through

My biggest issue with treating myself at home is I find it time consuming. Dedicating time to using your IPL can be a bit tedious, but from the results so far it really is worth it. Now I have my own IPL device I will continue to do the treatments myself. I have also started using it on my bikini line area which I wasn’t as keen on getting done in the salon

The home removal devices aren’t as strong as the professional ones either. So your results could take longer doing it yourself but it costs a lot less in the long run and you are in the comfort of your own home

If you are someone who schedules in their self-care routine, adding this in could be a worthwhile treatment if you long for silky smooth skin

I am looking forward to seeing even longer lasting results over time with my at home device

I would love to have one of these macjines to do IPL at home. I hate shaving and the problem with waxing is you have to let the hair grow back enough for the wax to work.

I used to work with a girl that said she didn’t shave her legs in the winter as she needed to keep as warm as possible. As someone who could have been her mother due to my age , she taught me this great tip and yes you do keep warmer. However the other day my husband commented that I have hairyer legs than him!

You should take a shower and exfoliate your skin before the process of hair removal. It removes the dead skin cells from your skin and frees you from any ingrown hairs. Whereas, a hot water shower will help you in opening up your skin pores, which makes the epilation really easy and smooth by making it less painful.
