Joining Slimming World

Joining Slimming World was among my New Year’s Resolutions

The past however many years I have been a yo-yo dieter, and it has to stop. Changing my eating habits needed to be something I was willing to do for the greater good. Finding a new way of achieving my weight loss goal rather than keep yo-yo dieting

I walk most days for at least an hour, usually more depending on which park I take the dogs

A good amount of exercise a day I always thought

However, I have noticed the weight creeping on and I am not happy about it

This has a lot to do with lifestyle, I am often eating out and grabbing snacks and milky coffees when I am out and about

A routine which has become far too easy over the past couple of years. If I had maybe just a stubborn area I could have looked at CoolSculpting but it is more than that, I need to lose fat all over.

Joining Slimming World

Making A Change

I researched on the Slimming World website, where and when my nearest group was so I could attend.

It was a lot closer than I thought, and I actually have a handful of groups within a mile or 2 away from home on various days.

Wednesday evening came and I chose to go to the 7:30 pm group.

In all honesty, I was really nervous just going into the group, really didn’t know what to expect.

My Slimming World Group

Thankfully, I was welcomed in with a warm greeting

I said it was my first time attending the group, so I needed to fill out the membership forms

Pretty straightforward forward nothing but what you would expect, health and personal information

We sat in a semi-circle facing the front of the room, where there was a table laid out with loads of food products

One thing I noticed was there seemed to be numerous people in pairs, moral support I suppose

In a group of about 50 people and about 20 of us were signing up as new members

We were given a clear folder which contains various books and leaflets about the food plan and how it works

a collection of leaflets I was giving when joining slimming world

My Journey

We sat as a group and went through all the food optimising choices

I have previously signed up for Slimming World online, but that didn’t last long as I wasn’t strict enough with my food choices

So now hoping that by going to the group, I get the social aspect which will help me stick to the plan.

I was weighed and it was recorded in my book at the end of the session

After another brief chat one on one with my new consultant, I felt confident I could make some positive changes by next week

I left the group and started meal planning when I got home.

I have an Instagram page where I will be uploading pictures of my meals, like a food diary

Also, I will be launching a blog with meals and recipes over at Synderella Slims

Pin this for later

Well done on making the first step and joining! I’ve never joined a group but I do it at home, I first started a couple of years ago and found it great as you can eat so much (hence why I need to lose weight!) and still the weight fell off but I got derailed when my dog had to have two operations. It was like having a new born baby but you need to have the energy to plan, prepare and cook a lot. Anyway, I’ve started again, again, after being derailed a second time, so I’ll be following your other account for inspirational food photos to excite me!

good luck with your weight loss. I hate the idea of being in a group doing anything, including slimming, but if you are a people person then hopefully it will work for you.

I thought that during Lockdown would be a great time to diet but instead we have taken to baking and eating more cake!
