For those of us who live for the thrill of the competition, the holiday season brings with it a special kind of excitement – Advent Competitions.

If you’re new to the world of comping or a seasoned pro looking to dive into the festive spirit, this guide is your key to understanding and maximising your chances in these exhilarating competitions.

During Advent, there are so many more competitions to enter on social media. Various brands hold daily competitions with some incredible prizes on their websites.

Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year. Being a comper, which is someone who enters competitions. I enter a lot of advent competitions on top of the additional social media competitions that run during this period too.

Over the years I have been really successful at winning and if you have the time it could be great for you to try too.

Advent Competitions

Much like a traditional advent calendar, these advent competitions involve opening a “door” each day to reveal a new prize or challenge. They will be unique to each website and brand so won’t look the same.

Daily Unwrapping

Each day leading up to Christmas, participants get to open a new “door” or window on the virtual advent calendar. Behind each door is a unique prize or challenge for that day.

Variety of Prizes

The prizes in Advent Competitions vary widely, ranging from small daily treats like discount codes and vouchers to larger, grand prizes that are often revealed closer to Christmas day.

Interactive Challenges

Some Advent Competitions involve daily challenges or tasks, adding an interactive element to the experience. This could include sharing holiday photos, answering trivia questions, or creating festive content.

Entry Requirements

Entry requirements also vary, with some competitions simply requiring you to open the door for a chance to win. While others may ask for additional actions like sharing on social media, subscribing to newsletters, or solving puzzles.

Tips For Winning

Stay Organised

Given the daily nature of Advent Competitions, staying organized is crucial. Create a calendar with details about each competition, including entry requirements and deadlines.

Set Reminders

Use alarms or calendar alerts to remind yourself to participate in each day’s competition. It’s easy to lose track during the busy holiday season.

Maximize Entries

Take advantage of additional entry opportunities. If a competition allows for multiple entries, be sure to maximize your chances by fulfilling all requirements.

Engage with the Community

Connect with other compers on social media platforms using dedicated hashtags or forums. This not only enhances the sense of community but can also lead to the discovery of new competitions.

The array of prizes catered to this time of year is mind blowing. I have seen Christmas trees, turkeys, food hampers, Christmas dinner and so much more which would help with reducing the cost of Christmas

Social Media

If you follow any of my social media channels you will often see me share post from companies about winning a prize. This is something I do all year round not just for Christmas.

At Christmas you will see me sharing a lot more. The volume of competitions increase, this is due to there being an influx of daily advent competitions.

Across social media channels, this being Facebook and Twitter mainly. But not excluding Instagram, Pinterest and YouTube. Even if you don’t have these social media accounts it could be worth signing up to them if you are interested in entering competitions.

Images For Comping

There are always loads of competitions where you need to include a picture of your Christmas tree. Any excuse to put your tree up early and get snapping to use a picture to enter.

These advent competitions usually start around black Friday. They run through December and up to Christmas Eve typically.

This is not a general rule but just what I have seen from previous years of entering Advent competitions

Win Christmas

Some will start in November. I can only assume it is so they can get the winners their prizes in time for Christmas.

If you have ever considered comping as a hobby or you want to try and get a little extra for Christmas this year, don’t waste any time start now.

Advent Competitions are a delightful way for us compers to celebrate the holiday season while indulging in our passion for competitions. With a bit of organisation, enthusiasm, and strategic participation, you too could unwrap more than just presents this December – you might uncover a whole new world of winning. So, get ready to open those virtual doors, embrace the festive fun, and may the comping odds be ever in your favour.

There are lots of groups where competitions are shared to on Facebook and its the same with Advent Competitions.

Good luck and hope you manage to win and help with the cost of Christmas.
