Christmas movies are a great way to get into the Christmas spirit
Over the years, my favourite Christmas movie has changed and changed again. We all have different tastes and there is so many out there to choose from
I remember when I was young and Home Alone was on, I used to get so excited. I knew with this Christmas movie on TV he big day was close
That is still the emotion I get from a lot of the movies. I absolutely love the festivities around Christmas time, getting cosy in winter and watching a Christmas movie for me is all part of it
So in no particular order, here are my favourite ten to give you some ideas
Top Christmas Movies
Home Alone (1990)
Kevin was accidentally left at home while the rest of his family went off for Christmas vacation
He spent his time trying to fend for himself, as well as fending off burglars who had targeted his house
This is a movie I would say everyone has watched more than once as it is such a family favourite.
Elf (2003)
Buddy the elf, was a human raised in the North Pole with Santa and the elves
Lots of laughter following his journey after he was sent in full elf uniform to find his father in New York
Love Actually (2003)
Romantic comedy set over a 4 week period on the lead-up to Christmas
Love is the main feature in this movie, as nine intertwined stories of people discovering love as we follow their journeys
Die Hard (1998)
New York cop visits his estranged wife at her work Christmas party
The party is interrupted by terrorists and his adventures unfold as he soon realised the only one who can rescue the hostages is him
How The Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)
Dr. Seuss’s story retold, of the Green Grinch who decides to ruin Christmas for the residents of Whoville
He steals everything festive from the town. But his plans are halted when he encounters a cheery, endearing Whoville resident
Scrooged ( 1988)
A modern take on the classic Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol
The successful television presenter is visited by a series of ghosts who encourage him to re-evaluate his past actions and right some wrongs
Gremlins (1984)
A unique Christmas present in the form of Gizmo is given to the son of a salesman
The care warnings fell on deaf ears when Gizmo and his gang of Gremlins tear up the town on Christmas eve
Jingle All The Way (1996)
A workaholic is desperately trying to make things up to his son and wife this Christmas, by getting his son the perfect gift
Follow the comical hunt on Christmas eve, trying to get the most sort after present in town
The Santa Clause (1994)
After accidentally killing a man in a Santa suit, the lead is magically transported to the North pole where he is told he needs to take Santa’s place
Over the month his body changes and realises his trip to the North Pole was no dream, he is Santa
Jack Frost (1998)
A snowman is brought to life by the sound of the late father’s harmonica being played by the son
The heart warming attempt from the father to make up for lost time with his son before he melts and its too late
I hope some of my favourite Christmas movies are also on your list of favourites. I feel that a lot of people have probably seen most of these and this reminder will prompt you to watch them again
