1 . Banana Peels: Teeth Whitening

Bananas are a common fruit found in most kitchens, providing many essential nutrients for the body.

While many use banana peels for the compost pile, only some know its secret use in teeth whitening. To begin with, they are loaded with manganese, magnesium, potassium, which work in teeth whitening.

Simply rub a banana peel on your teeth for 2 minutes and brush it off after 15 minutes.

To see the results, wait for a week.

2 .Refrigerator: Storing Beauty Products

Beauty fridges are a real thing in the beauty world.

While it might not make sense to you in the beginning, they are popular for a reason.

Skincare products are generally made to store at room temperatures, and there’s no reason for you to put them in the refrigerator.

However, sheet masks, toners and eye creams can use a chill environment to have an extended shelf-life

Imagine running a chilled jade roller across your skin.

3. Coconut Oil: Hair Mask

One of the most common household beauty tips any generation can provide you is the use of coconut oil. Whether you have dull, damaged, or dry hair, coconut oil works wonderfully for all.

Coconut oil contains anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and antioxidant properties that work towards treating various common hair concerns. It moisturises dry areas and supports hair growth while preventing protein loss due to colour damage.

You can use coconut oil as a hair mask – use it with other oils like castor or olive oil, but it can be used standalone. Coconut oil gets solidified during the winters, but you can quickly melt it by rubbing it together in your palms or lightly heat it.

4. Tea Bags: Eye Mask

Tea is most beloved, but not necessarily just as a beverage.

Teabags are one of the beauty items that are cheap, accessible, and work towards disappearing dark circles around eyes for good. But that’s not all; tea bags can also work wonders on puffy eyes and redness.

Some tea bags are also used to reduce symptoms of red-eye, styes, pink eyes, etc.

You can use teabags simply by putting them in water and squeezing out excess water. Optionally, refrigerating them. Put them on the eyes for a few minutes and relax.

5. Vaseline: Make the Scent Last Longer

One of the most beautiful compliments you can get is people telling you that you smell good – while wearing your favourite perfume. But that rarely happens because, by the time you meet people, your fragrance wears off.

A simple household item like vaseline can comes to your rescue. Experts often recommend using a similar scented body lotion before you spray perfume so that it can retain the fragrance longer.

In case you don’t have the same body lotion, you can use vaseline as an unscented base. Vaseline can act as a great base to dab with perfumes and help your scent h last all day long.

6. Honey: Face Mask

Honey has been an essential part of our lifestyle for longer than we can imagine. Whether in cooking or treating illness, it has proved it worth several times.

Beauty experts, nutritionists, dieticians rave about its anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, and clarifying properties.

One of the common benefits of honey is that it works towards tan removal, hydration, and skin brightening.

  • For dry skin, combine honey with olive oil.
  • For oily skin, mix yogurt and honey until it forms a paste.
  • For sensitive skin, it’s best to use honey alone as a soothing face mask.

After applying the mask, leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes before washing off with lukewarm water.

7. Metal Spoon: Depuff Eyes + Curl Eyelashes

The ways a metal spoon can be used as a beauty tool are many, but we don’t want to overwhelm you.

  • Curl eyelashes: It’s true; we are not all lucky to have thick and curly eyelashes and need eyelash curlers to achieve that. A metal spoon can help in the absence of machines.  To try it out, hold the inner side of the spoon against your eyelid smoothly. Slowly push the lashes up against the edge of the spoon, slowly and lightly. There you go!
  • Depuffing under-eye skin: Place two chilled or refrigerated metal spoons, and place them under your eyes, ensuring all areas are covered.

Bottom line

Now that you know some everyday beauty uses from items from your kitchen, you can rule out some beauty products from your list.

Let us know what secret kitchen item deserves more limelight as an alternative to a beauty product.
