How to feel at home when you have just moved house can take time.
There are a number of creature comforts that can make you feel more at home quicker. However, we all have a different idea of home and what home is like. Especially how it makes us feel when we are ay home.
The majority of people will say that home is where you find a sense of comfort, safety and belonging. These are all emotional feelings which we crave.
How To Feel At Home

Your At Home Senses
People have scents that they associate with home. That smell of the laundry detergent on their clothes or the smell of the coffee machine which sits in the kitchen. It could be the different types of candles you burn at home which fill your house that makes you feel at home.
Sounds that you hear at home such as the buzzing of the fridge or freezer and the sound of the dishwasher on its cycle.
It is even the sense of knowing once you have shut your front door, the world is on the outside. You can put on your slippers and light those candles and relax.
Your home will always be the place for which you feel the deepest affection, no matter where you are. If you have ever felt homesick you miss those feelings of familiarity more specifically than the dwelling.
Make Your Home Your Style
When you move to a new home, it has been styled by someone else. This style might well be something you like, but it isn’t necessarily how you would do it yourself.
To change the soft furnishings or to add soft furnishings will change the dynamics and ambiance of a room. A curtain on a window or cushion on the sofa will change the look.
Some paint on the walls to change the feel, or brighten the room up, will also make a huge difference to how you view it. These do not need to be expensive and can easily be created by you.
Take a look how to cosy up at home in autumn. A lot of people change their home decor to match the season this is a great way to change things up slightly.

Use Your Belongings
One word…unpack!
If you are anything like me, when I move there is always a few boxes that I take forever to unpack when you have just moved.
It will help you feel more settled if you make places for all your belongings in your new home.
It’s important you feel at home in your space, and you have every right to make your living environment your own, even if you are renting.
Therefore, no matter whether you own your home or are renting it, make sure you fully unpack your belongings.
This will have a huge impact on how quickly you feel at home.
It is imperative you find that way to make your home feel like your home. Your familiar belongings and your routine which makes you happy.
It can take a while to feel like this when you move to a new home.
These are a just a few of my suggestions which I feel could help you feel more at home.
Home is a feeling, and it isn’t something that can be purchased.
It’s much more about how you use the space, as this will determine how we feel about it, and spending the time to appreciate what we have in our own.
