Blog With an Online Store

The statistics are showing us that more and more people look online for the things that they need. So if you want to have a slice of the online shopping financial pie, then you need to have a shop for people to buy from.

You could try things like eBay, but you will have greater control over fees and costings if you run a shop yourself

So here are some tips to help you get started if you want to run an online store.

Boosting Your Blog With an Online Store

Before you start anything, you need to make sure that you are going to be selling products that people want. So some research, and in particular, market research, is just what you will need to do

Do people like your ideas and products?

What do they think of the price points?

Look at your competition too; what are they doing and what are their price points?

From there, you can make a more informed decision about what you want to do.

Money

In order to have an online store, you will need to have stock for your store

Unless you want to go down a remote storage and delivery service, where you don’t even handle the stock, then you will need to have inventory to sell. But of course, you will need cash to get your hands on the stock in the first place

You may have savings, or may have a business credit card. You could even look for a loan with quick payout if you wanted to get thing started quickly

Just know what you are spending, the budget for spending, and a plan to pay it all back

Pick a Platform

The next step is getting a store online and live; but which platform should you choose?

If you already have a blog site on something like WordPress, then you can use that using plugins for the checkout store

You could also create something completely separate, like Shopify or Magento. If you’re not too techy and don’t want to design anything yourself, these are much simpler options.

Marketing

If your research is done and your store is online, then you need to get marketing. No one will know about your store if you don’t get out there to talk about it

Social media is really important, as it can show what you sell and give a behind the scenes look behind you and your brand

You may want to run this separately from your existing accounts, or you could tie the two together if your followers are the right target audience for your online store products

So get social and get sharing, and you can build your business from there
