Confidence is a tricky thing, especially for women. It’s hard to come by anyway, due to a myriad of social factors, and even when a woman feels and shows confidence it is often dismissed as “unladylike”. Of course, this attitude is idiotic and misogynistic, but it persists, and the only thing to do with it is ignore it.
You deserve to feel confident because when you are feeling at the top of your game everything becomes easier.
Confident people feel like they deserve success and happiness, and are less likely to question when good things happen to them. So what are some little things you can do to become more confident?
How To Become More Confident
Don’t be afraid to smile
Women, in TV and film, are often portrayed as laughing with their hands over their mouths. This is perceived as being cute, but there’s a reason it caught on as a behaviour.
When you smile, or laugh, you show your teeth, and teeth are something that is often criticised about a woman’s appearance.
Many women fear showing their teeth, and if you have noticed misalignment issues there’s nothing wrong with trying out clear aligners to give you a straighter smile. When you’re confident about smiling, you’ll smile more, and it’s a perfect virtuous circle, as you’ll feel more confident the more you smile.
Having your teeth cosmetically corrected is common for men and women who are in the public eye. Routine teeth maintenance is important for oral hygiene. If you need dental fillings waco (or whichever area you are in) you should seek to have these issues resolved before considering any cosmetic work.
Keeping a positive mindset
It’s easy to get downhearted when things don’t go as we expect, and this is all the more so if we have a mindset that reacts to disappointment with self-recrimination. You’re perfectly entitled to want and expect good things in life. That should be the baseline expectation for any of us.
So if things go wrong, it is never a good idea to tell yourself that this is what you should have expected; instead, accept that sometimes you’re up, and sometimes you’re down. And when you’re up, it’s something to be enjoyed and built upon.
The more you see the good times as being what you deserve, the more confident you’ll be all around.
Dress for success (or confidence, at least)
This doesn’t need to be interpreted as “always go out dressed up to the nines”, although if you feel powerful that way, go for it! The idea of dressing for confidence is to feel comfortable and face life on your terms. That can be an LBD and heels if it suits you, or if you feel strongest when wearing a T-shirt and jeans, that’s also fine. Personal style is all about what makes you feel like a million dollars (or a comparable amount of any currency). You know you’ve nailed it when you don’t care what anyone else says or thinks about what you wear. Confidence, you see, is about putting your opinion first about matters that affect you, and you’d be amazed by the impact of dressing how you want.
Small changes can make a big difference to how you feel about yourself, and any one of the above can be the small push it takes to give your confidence momentum, so learn to see each little decision you make as the chance to boost yourself.
